Junior Book Awards a HUGE Success!

The Le Moyne College Heights Award recognizes students “reaching for the heights” in the classroom and in service to school and community.  The recipient has at least a 3.7 average in CP or Honors classes, is ranked in the top 25% of the class, and has made significant contributions in leadership and service to their school and community.  This award includes a Certificate of Recognition and a $14,750 annual scholarship to Le Moyne.  We are pleased to shared that the Le Moyne College Heights Award goes to Maria Marroquin!

 

Worcester Polytechnic Institute remains committed to strengthening the number of women in the science, technology, engineering, and math fields. The WPI STEM Leadership Book Award is offered annually to honor and recognize high achieving young women who exhibit the following:

  • Exceptional academic achievement in a rigorous college prep program with a focus on coursework in science, technology, engineering, or mathematics
  • A commitment to leadership and an engaged member of her school and community
  • A strong ability to collaborate, innovate, and problem solve
  • Success in hands on, project-based learning

Recipients are awarded a certificate and a copy of Women in Science: 50 Fearless Pioneers Who Changed the World, written and illustrated by Rachel Ignotofsky. We are pleased to share that the WPI STEM Leadership Book Award goes to Jeanell Acevedo!

 

The Society of Women Engineers recognizes 3 young women who have demonstrated high achievement in STEM courses with the goal of providing recognition and encouragement for these women to pursue careers in STEM fields. The recipients have completed 3 years of Science and 3 years of Math with “distinction” and are active citizens of NDCR and their community.  We are pleased to share that the Society of Women Engineers Certificates of Merit goes to Jadahlee Peralta, Janelle Rivera, and Javiely Javier!

 

Since 1982, the Wellesley College Book Award Program has honored high achieving young women - students who have been top scholars in high school as well as talented performers in extracurricular areas. Recipients are chosen for their intelligence, determination, motivation, and achievement. They are visible members of their schools and communities. Most importantly, however, they are academic leaders in their secondary schools. We are pleased to share that the Wellesley College Book Award to Nicole Alonzo! 

 

The Assumption College Book award is presented to an outstanding student who exemplifies the academic success, leadership qualities, and concern for others that Assumption College students are known for. This year’s book selection is Tattoos on the Heart: The Power of Boundless Compassion by Gregory Boyle.  The award includes a minimum of $24,000 renewable merit scholarship if the student is accepted to and chooses to attend Assumption.  We are pleased to share that the Assumption College Book Award goes to Dariana Gonzalez!

 

We would like to recognize two students as our recipients of the St. Michael’s College Book Award for Academic Achievement and Social Conscience.  These students attain mostly A's and B's and show a sustained and sincere commitment to community service, issues of peace and justice, and concern for others.  This year's book is the autobiography Lulu in the Sky: A Daughter of Cambodia Finds Love, Healing, and Double Happiness, written by Saint Michael's alumna, Luong Ung '93.  We are pleased to share that the St. Michael’s College Book Award for Academic Achievement and Social Conscience goes to Julissa Morales and Joel Heredia.

 

For more than 100 years, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute has awarded the Rensselaer Medal to exemplary high school students.
 
To be honored with the Rensselaer Medal, a student must:

  • Be ranked within the top 10% of their class
  • Excel in advanced math and science courses
  • Demonstrate potential for success in a challenging academic setting
  • And exhibit significant involvement in extracurricular activities

This medal includes a merit scholarship totaling $120,000 and is guaranteed for four years for each medalist who is accepted and enrolls at RPI. If this student chooses to attend RPI, they will receive the actual medal at an Honors Convocation next fall.

We are pleased to share this certificate in recognition of the Rensselaer Medal to Jhanny Jimenez!  

 

The St. Anselm College Book Award recipient is "Anselmian"--someone who understands the greater good. A student who is gifted academically and socially. One who demonstrates leadership roles in and out of the classroom. A student who gives back to their community through service. A student who demonstrates exceptional leadership qualities in the area of civic engagement. A generally well-rounded student who is certain to make an impact wherever they go.  This year’s book selection is Half Truths:  What’s Right (and What’s Wrong) with the Cliches You and I Live By, authored by St. Anselm Professor Montague Brown. We are pleased to share that the St. Anselm College Book Award goes to Nomar Pena-Urena!

 

Harvard Prize Books are awarded to outstanding students who display excellence in scholarship and character, combined with achievement in other fields.  Recipients exhibit exceptional personal qualities and have made significant contributions to their school or community. Donated by Harvard Clubs and Shared Interest Groups, Prize Books are presented annually in nearly 2,000 high schools around the world.  We are pleased to share that the Harvard Prize Book Award to Genesis Bernabel!
