Xavier Vasquez, Class of 2018
Health Science / Pre-dental
Where are you now? How did you become interested in your field?
I’m at Harvard dental school right now. I’m a first year. I became interested in dentistry because my aunt from the Dominican Republic was a dentist and I got to shadow her back when I was in middle school.
What advice would you give to other alumni or current students who aspire to pursue your career path?
It takes a lot of hard work, luck and knowing the right people to be able to get this point. I don’t think I would have got into this program without the help and guidance of some amazing mentors I met during my senior year of undergraduate.
What contributed to your success or where you are today?
I met my mentor Dr. Morell during my gap year and she really helped clear the fog when I was working on my school application.
Do you believe Notre Dame Cristo Rey has impacted your career or the person you are today? If so, how?
Yes I think so. This school taught me about work ethic and making good connections with people which are skills I still use to this day.
What do you enjoy doing on your free time?
Reading, writing and vinyl collecting.
How would you describe Cristo Rey to someone who is new to the school? OR What would you say to prospective Cristo Rey families who are considering Cristo Rey?
I would say it is a great school that builds the student up for future success.
