Where are you now? How did you become interested in your field?
I went to the University of New Haven. I graduated in 2021 and I am currently doing my masters at UMass Lowell and Majoring in Criminal Justice. I worked at the Essex County District Attorneys office in Lawrence in charge of the Diversion program for Juveniles and Adults for 2 years and now as of June 2023, I am working at the Department of Youth Services as a Caseworker. DYS is a Juvenile Detention Agency for the state of MA. I love working with Juveniles' and making a change in their lives.
What advice would you give to other alumni or current students who aspire to pursue your career path?
You need to love what you do and you need to want to work with juveniles. If you are unhappy at a job then look for other opportunities. If you do not love what you are doing or where you work, that is going to be a struggle. I recommend for everyone to challenge yourself and to put yourself out there to find what you love.
What contributed to your success or where you are today?
The Corporate work-study program definitely has helped me in my career. Having the experience of working at professional companies since freshman year will put you aside from others and will open yourself up to several experiences and opportunities. Being bilingual has also contributed to my success as there is a great need for Spanish speakers in our community and in my line of work.
Do you believe Notre Dame Cristo Rey has impacted your career or the person you are today? If so, how?
It definitely has as I have had several experiences and opportunities through NDCR.
What do you enjoy doing on your free time?
Going to the gym and eating out with friends
How would you describe Cristo Rey to someone who is new to the school? OR What would you say to prospective Cristo Rey families who are considering Cristo Rey?
NDCR is a big family that will be there to support you and your journey throughout high school and after.
