Alumni Spotlight- E. Gil

Emely Gil, Class of 2018
Major(s):
Bachelors in Business Administration with a concentration in healthcare and HR management

Where are you now? How did you become interested in your field?
Currently, I am attending Southern New Hampshire University. I will be completed with my bachelors by 2025, and I am so proud for pushing through! I became interested in the field because I’ve always wanted to acquire a business. In addition, I have always had a passion for the healthcare field and HR due to working in HR at Raytheon as one of my NDCR internships.

What advice would you give to other alumni or current students who aspire to pursue your career path?
I would advise students to work hard, don’t procrastinate, set short term & long term goals, and celebrate every milestone in college. College goes as fast as high school, however, you must have discipline and be conscientious to stay on track.

What contributed to your success or where you are today?
My two kids have definitely contributed to my success along with realizing that education is key. I want to give my 4-year-old son & 11-month-old baby boy the best life which is the reason they are my WHY.

Do you believe Notre Dame Cristo Rey has impacted your career or the person you are today? If so, how?
NDCR definitely has impacted my career. I am accustomed to working in a professional setting, I know how to be professional, and of course, with the variety of internships I went through, I know the type of work environment I belong in. My work ethic has been truly shaped by NDCR, & for that reason, everyone expects the best out of me.

What do you enjoy doing on your free time?
I enjoy spending time with my kids & also retail therapy!

How would you describe Cristo Rey to someone who is new to the school? OR What would you say to prospective Cristo Rey families who are considering Cristo Rey?
Cristo Rey is definitely the school to go to if you want your child to be successful in school, the workplace, and even life in general. This school sets up the students for success and provides them with lifelong tools they can utilize in the future.
